I Spied You A SirenA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenI Spied You a Siren I took you to heart, Held you warm in my soul But threatened the sanctuary You couldn’t let go. So you left me grim hope With no beacon to guide And I crashed on the rocks Of that perilous tide. But I clambered to safety To avoid being drowned So you merely weighed anchor And slipped away with no sound. As I watched your sail go In the gathering gloom I spied you a siren, A true lady of doom. © 2012 John Alexander McFadyen |
