SancturyA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenSanctuary Not one flicker of hope; So devoid of emotion And compassion, A cold compress of revenge. The silence has me crushed. Twelve days and nights, A life sentence pronounced And no cause for appeal. Am I to be your prisoner? A probationary community sentence Till I am truly reformed Or sent back to jail. How can true passion be so Unless built on melting ice? Anger? I think not Fear of me? Not cause enough. Cold inner withdrawal the truth. An ability to bury emotion And hide away Behind the psychological castle walls In the sanctuary you have created. © 2012 John Alexander McFadyen |
