StrangersA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenStrangers How quickly, we who have been intimate And shared so much closeness Become strangers. We move from the generosity of love And kindness, understanding and hope To suspicion and hate. This defence allows us to survive And cope with the seismic rift Of a broken love. Something we thought would last forever But suddenly and catastrophically Became a fatality. Another statistic to add to the rest Of the morbidity data of life. 19th May 2009 © 2012 John Alexander McFadyen |
