A Brief Moment

A Brief Moment

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

A Brief Moment

There is no beauty in parting.

Love it seems is all imagination

when you are alone;

hard, icy solitary thoughts.

You feel the leaden, empty brick of regret

at such loss.

What had been will never be again

as we return to our lone state,

a single entity in time.

Someone we once knew,

were intimate with,

indeed carnally so,

but never took the bait,

becomes a simple memory.

A cold and frozen thought,

a stranger we once passed

and who smiled back,

and made us feel the warmth

for a brief moment.

Pretty much it.
Extremely well-written and properly depressing.
Most of the charm--and all of the magic--these lovers once seemed to possess, was only that which we, in our desire to be in love, created and ascribed to them.
As William, The Bard once said, "To be in love, is to be buried in the deepest bullshit!" (Admittedly, this might be more of a paraphrase.)

And yet we all seek it! Fools.
Nothing worse than to find that loop in time undone...What had been will never be again... very strong poem that all can relate to, it’s simple flow and leading keeps the reader moving forward.

Thank you Cherrie!!
Yes it's such a strange thing that intimacy can be so fleeting, it always bugs me a little, a bit more so when I was your age I suppose.

I'll take that as a compliment! No James writes real classic poetry while I scribble on trees.

James is not John, John is not James, check.

Check mate! He's young tall and intellegent.
Well put, my friend. Love is a fleeting thing.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
