Sea of Mirrors

Sea of Mirrors

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Sea of Mirrors

Do not let reflection

drown you in a sea of mirrors,

for it is a fools pursuit.

When floating in the deep,

salty ocean of tears,

do not let introspection

smother your belief,

or shake your faith

in your own human majesty.

Do not dip your bowed

head below the waves

until your mind is so starved

of the oxygen of hope

that your heart dies.

Break for the surface

where sweet tastes

await your sun parched mouth.

Let the warm liquor of life

bathe you.

Accept its healing scented balm

and trust that you will float

and will not drown.

of oxygen hope? So what kind of poetry is this? Nice work, I saw a visual of your piece in my head. I don't know the rules for poems, so please forgive me for stepping on toes.

Leslie many thank yous once more. I promise its back to normal pace from 2nd April!
A very motivating write_up, empowering one to look within for inner strength and outside, for the beauty the world has to offer.
Thanks John, it was great to read!

Thank you dear Divya
Loved this - has a lot of meaning for me - In more ways than one for today I go to float - upon a boat - that may become my home! :))

Seriously though - I really like this! It has a great message.

You're welcome
This is like doing a hit of ecstasy in poem form. My favorite metaphor, the majestic and destructive ocean. I hear you John, loud and clear. Brilliant read...I mean that in so many ways.
