November Sun

November Sun

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

November Sun

The November sun deceives

for in its promise

is little warmth.

No comfort for cold skin

or tired flesh.

Summer gone without a fight,

in creeps the ghost

whose passage leaves

will fall to.

Who descends on us like fog

and brings cloud upon cloud

to sadden the spirit

and drive us to layers of clothes

and a life indoors

with windows closed to nature.

Thank you Sheema for reading.
I agree with Aaran, it feels like there's much more here than just the changing season, a very melancholy feel.

Nice write about changing seasons! And I find it symbolic of the changing times of a man's life. An uniformly structured piece it successfully replicates the coldness that it talks about. Well done!

That's the better plan!
Yes the November Sun is a bit pathetic and usually offers very little, but there are some beautiful clear Autumn days in November that have a personality all over their own, lovely piece and highly original

"the nights are drawing in mind"

For some reason I love fall.. The tree's change, the weather has a nip of cold just enough for a sweater ..sigh.. cider and apple doughnuts mmmm and kissing in the woods of course :) You penned your emotions and thoughts well..xo

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
