Devil's WorkA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenDevil’s Work I thought I’d cast him into the wilderness of the cold, dark sky. But he is a wily one, full of cunning tricks. He comes up silently from behind and as I spin to face him he is gone in memories of that dream I have. He waits until I am weak from the blows of time, and seeks to take his chance, slipping in through my mouth, past my silent breath in beery torrents that insult my true immortal soul. 31/10/12 © 2012 John Alexander McFadyenReviews
