Sad Ending

Sad Ending

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Sad Ending

I sit naked

with my poetry

as the sun

begins to invade

the cool of dawn.

I am stripped

of all pretence,

my emotions exposed

like shards of cold jagged glass

as I try to avoid the pain.

Today little comfort

comes from words,

they seem empty phrases,

devoid of hope.

No soothing friendship

will heal me,

or my heart,

now love has gone.

Sob! Your pain is so raw and destructive- I hope time has healed (as comforting words and soothing friendships couldn't).

Hi Mia, I hope you are well? Many thanks.
You capture this terrain of the heart so well John--I wish fewer of us could relate

Audrey thank you so much.
don't doubt quite a few people could echo your beautiful words, even if they don't have the skill or emotional urge to write them. In its way faded or past love's as painful as hate because it holds what was once so warm and thrilling, so full of promise, so much needed, but then, when it's gone there's a near unbearable emptiness.

Oh John...you break my heart so beautifully...these words...so sad, but so lovely...it is a paradigm that defines you as a writer...

"No soothing friendship
will heal me,
or my heart,
now love has gone."

But I will certainly try...
