Return to Halden

Return to Halden

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Return to Halden

In my dreams I see

calm waters,

where the Tista

lays on the Iddefjord.

Blue glass reflections

of hope at last.

I see green hills

sloping all around,

forests of pine

that bring colour

to our devotion.

A love so strong

and durable as Oftfold

white granite with

it’s grains of black and grey.

I see the place

Where Karl did fall,

Fredrickstein stands

protection over our harbour

of joy.

While all of Norway

sings Halden’s praises

we have our own song,

our sweet melody,

our crisp lyrics

our deep, devoted love.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
