Diana

Diana

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

The huntress

"

Diana

Goddess of the moon

hide me in the forest of Aricia

where your priest is set,

and I will wrench the heavy bough

to bring down on his head

and serve you well.

Take me urgently on mount Tifata

that I may fertilise your womb

and bring upon your nature

the easy birth of this sweet child.

And on Aventine Hill,

where you shelter them,

sacrifice such slaves

as we hunt

for the secret of the heavens

my shining one.

Yeah the power of the woman eh!?
I think I've said it in one of your prior pieces, I can hear this in a Clash of the Titans setting before be marched of to conflict with a feared enemy.

Thank you Allan, you indulge me this morning!
Another fine poem based on a antic source, the hunt, fertility, the places - this all fits.

I like the mythological and romantic combine. A poetry rich in vivid imagery woven around the Greek Goddess Diana. I learnt so much while reading this poem! Thanks for sharing John!

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
