Yay! My first Tanka!

Fragile Poet

Bleed me with your words,

cut into my flesh deeply

with your paper cuts,

as you hide behind the mask

that protects you from your fears.

As though the thoughts of the poet are an attack on the body as well as the mind, which is in the end true I suppose as our minds control our bodies. The poet as a coward, hiding, that is certainly true as well, especially on WC! Very thought provoking

Ah yes, very nice, John...I wrote one a few months ago, it was very satisfying. Mine was more traditional, I think, and not quite as lovely as yours. Haunting imagery here. Well done.

I read you often but do not always review -now that I am finally getting overtime I will review more...and paid sick days*)

and yes, we do hide don't we...

and each sharp critique could feel like a paper cut. but if we are to do this...we need to get thicker skin.

Thank you jacob. I agree but there are some among us who become agressive and angry if we stray from platitudes. I only discovered the Tanka this morning through someone else's work which is what I love abour giving and taking on WC. Many thanks Jacob.
