Faithless

Faithless

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Faithless

I dare not contemplate

this dream

for it has taken too many

changes of the moon

to reach my world.

Too many cycles of the sun

have passed and scorched my flesh

till my bones are arid dry.

For too long I have lived

in this abyss of sadness,

that deep and empty place

where hope has no light

and the energy of love

dare not evoke the demons

that guard hate so well.

This leaves me with images of sadness and a desire to allow hate to swallow the writer to permit hate to remain.

Very well done! I enjoyed this poem a lot. I loved the flow, some of the words you choose, and it's clarity. The point is there and has an ending that made me not sad or angry, as one might think it would, but gave me a sense of longing to know what causes this pain. Excellent.

Well done! Very crisp and effective. "Arid dry" could be a tad redundant, though. Cheers!

No problem.
Brilliant. Eloquent and beautiful. Definitely captured what one so hopeless would be.

Wow - now THAT is how you write. You've taken such a tragic feeling of despair and so eloquently encapsulated it within these words that one cannot help but love the poem, even when full of such despondency.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
