Of This Life

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Of This Life

I am looking up at skies

that stare blankly back.

                                      I sink in an ocean

where nothing floats,

just drowns.

I hang among vacant stars

in frozen and empty space.

I cannot move through time

without pain.

I exist in this universe

with no compassion,

a cold and Godless place

of science, dictators

 and frosted doctors.

So tell me,

where am I?

Who am I?

Am I simply walking dead?

Yes John, you could not have put it better. We could almost be walking dead. Maybe even evil dead.

" I exist in this universe
with no compassion,
a cold and Godless place
of science, dictators
and frosted doctors." - A very interesting description of the contemporary world!

Very thought-provoking and beautifully worded! Thanks for sharing.

The words written here didn't stop to have a meaning.
You're right, in this age people are quietly shoving the thought of God away, and believes that there's always Science behind every logic that will be asked and deterred. For me though, He exists and he will always wait for everyone to turn to Him again~

Great poem, Mr. McFayden

You're welcome
A stark look at a sense of being that I feel many can relate to these days. There's a lot of negativity in the world that weighs us down. The attacks on religion, science, against each other... You capture the sadness and despair quite well in this poem.

Thank you so much QSS!
Your words always have such a presence. There is no ambiguity and the meaning is always crystal. I felt the despair, the frustration in them. Very well done as always my friend.
