Stolen YearsA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenStolen Years I put you on a pedestal, so high I could not reach you. You stood there so proud, bowing to your adoring fans, leaving me in the wings of abandonment. Everything I believed in was yours so my faith withered and dried like parched earth bound plants. As I gulped and gasped for the purity of your sweet air you cut off the supply and slowly I asphyxiated. You strangled hope from me, until I was no longer a man simply a facsimile, a mere zombie, walking with no true pulse, no purpose, no blood in my arteries. Then you drew your dagger of deceit and slit my throat, leaving me to bleed these decades of regret. 28/04/13 © 2013 John Alexander McFadyenReviews
