Against the Tide

Against the Tide

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Against the Tide

I have swum in many rivers of love

only to be washed down-stream

by currents of deceit.

The ebb and flow of such tidal waterways

are treacherous reaches

where mother earth exacts such cruel revenge

for the slights she feels she has suffered.

And I have trusted enough

to get into those murky rapids

time and time again

in the hope of reaching calm and silty shallows

where I may rest

and bathe my passion for loving;

but I am still swimming against the flow

and grow more weary at each stroke

and now I fear I may simply drown

in search of a true heart.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
