A Prayer, A Breath, A Sigh

A Prayer, A Breath, A Sigh

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

A Prayer, A Breath, A Sigh

I prayed that you would come,

offering your sweet fruits

for me to pluck.

Allow me to devour you,

consume you with the passion

of a starving wolf

that tears its prey apart.

I took a deep breath as you approached,

drinking in your ethereal charm,

your poise,

your elegant yet earthy nature

and my hunger grew insane.

I sighed as you smiled,

head down,

and with a demure flick

of your long blonde hair

were gone.

A lovely, wistful, but not melancholy tale of an erstwhile unrequited love. Very stylish, and somehow sweet, too.

Ha thank you 'M' for such a lovely review.
sounds like you were the one to get teased in this one... very sensual imagery with a hint of innocence and playfulness that drives the flirtatious edge of the poem.. the flow had me hanging on every word, which was very skillful and naughty of you... I have to say I really enjoyed this one too.. It was sexy but romantic and teased the reader in all the right ways.. well done!

Not sure if I should be enthralled or run the other way, reminds me of NIN....animalistic and coy in the same breath John...

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
