Ethereal You

Ethereal You

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Ethereal You

Your fragile heart

intoxicates me

until so breathless

by my own captivation

I struggle to survive.

You offer me fragments

of heaven,

pieces of love

glinting in warm rays

of hope,

and then draw a veil

of suspicion round

every whisper we have shared.

You retreat into the sanctuary

of your womb,

that place of cold comforts

where you will not share yourself

for fear of loss.

And so,

I am left out here

in the cold.

Here’s a beautifully expressed sentiment. Ethereal like an “intoxicating” “whispering” cloud or butterfly who retreats into the cold upper levels of her stratospheric “womb“, vanishing.

Many thanks Aethereal
It started out so enchanting, took a dive midway through to a chilled, dare not surrendered heart, that's the way love goes sometimes unfortunately....I love this one John.

Ahh, this is gorgeous, John, and sad, and romantic, and so YOU. So good to have you back. You add a certain je ne sais quoi to the place ...

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
