The Road to Love

The Road to Love

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

The Road to Love

Savaged by the she wolf’s angry fangs,

blood oozes from my wounds

to drip in steady rivulets

upon smooth black asphalt.

And driving rain in the dark of night

buffs the road ahead

to a mirror finish

in which to inspect so many scaly scars.

Rain clouds hide the moon

and my path is still obscured

so I cannot see the lights of the city

and have no idea how far it is

to salvation.

But still I stumble on,

knowing I have the strength

to get there.

flow and imagery packed a poetic punch with this one, John... can feel the determination and angst as well as the pain of realization of circumstances..

Many thanks Leslie.
A little light if hope John sometimes is all we need. I tend to be a bit bleak and sympathise with the darker moments of life not really a great bundle of joy addmitedly so when I read your lines it was the meaning of hope that hit me.

Thankyou

Your ending gives us salvation...afteral, there must be a light at the end of our tunnel. I know I need one!

On hands and knees!
I really like this poem...an allegory for finding our back from the pain of being jilted by love...
we feel like werewolves, out there alone...searching for something.

also like this song bunches...and Peter and Gordon...one of my close friends is Georgie Waller...Gordon's ex...she is the epitome of the sixties hippie freak...peace and love forever.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
