Notebook

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

I am waiting for the flies............................

"

Notebook

I am like a spider,

my web strung out in filigree, silken charm,

catching insects of ideas, words and phrases

and wrapping them into the sticky fibres

of my memory.

Some I may discard,

others I will consume and digest at my leisure.

Once swallowed they swell my thoughts

providing nutrition that feeds the poetry and prose

spewing from my spinneret gut

upon the pages of this notebook.

really like the analogy of the poet to the spider....and what ideas we catch, the ones we digest, the ones we keep imprisoned in the web until we either use them or refuse them.

Thank you so much Jacob, you get my point.
Well, as I find spiders particularly creepy, this one kinda made me twitchy. But, it's an eloquent allegorical look at the way written composition moves us.

The compliments were earned.
I knew all along you were some kind of multiple-legged creature sucking the brains out of creativity. :) Not the Notebook I was thinking of. Very unique concept John, love the silken charm of your web....!

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
