Shame

Shame

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

We are complicit!

"

Shame

We are the sons and daughters

of destruction

as we stand idly by in our safe houses

and watch, detached, as the slaughter

of nations rages in a foreign land.

Our leaders and the press

demonise that which has no fit

with our distorted and biased

reasoning.

Allowing us to wash our hands

of the blame.

We watch mass murder, starvation,

rape, torture and invasion

as if an episode of a TV serial.

Thus detached we can bury guilt

deep in the recess of shame.

...your words are painfully true, John! We see it so much, that we are numb to its effect! Awesome work, my friend!

Thank you Kelly.
I agree with this poem. We are complacent, and we accept what the media feeds us, and are unfazed by the terror and destruction all over the world. It is shameful indeed.
p.s. demonise should be demonize.

Hey, do you guys say Zee or Zed?

We usually use Zed but you guys influence us!

Canada says Zed, usually.
Indeed, many watch the news and say, "that is so far away from us. It does not effect us." Truth is, though, it effects us more than we want to admit. Ask not for whom the bell tolls and all that! We are complicit....I agree. A poem that is up to date and a must read. John, your words are always well chosen. Lydi**

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
