Drowned AgainA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenWhen you are out of your depth and don't know it!Drowned Again You broke my heart, but I let you do it. It was all my fault for allowing myself to slide gleefully into the warm waters, without first checking their depth and the flow of the current. And sure enough, I was soon in difficulty, as they say, when cramp set in from treading water for so long, as I awaited your devotion; I wanted, needed to live. I tried hard to stay above the waves but I was weakened. I tried to attract the attention of those on the distant shore but they saw me ‘waving not drowning’. And so, exhausted, I slipped from view, below the calm glassy surface, my lungs filled with your liquid lies and my body weighed down by the stones of deception you had placed in my pockets of hope. 02/10/14 © 2014 John Alexander McFadyenAuthor's NoteReviews
