Survival of the FortunateA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenWe live in our silo.Survival of the Fortunate The warm tears you shed fall upon frozen ground as the world stands and watches the agony you suffer each and every day and looks away. You are a foreigner in our eyes, and if you are black, Asian or Arab you have less worth than the cattle we raise to slaughter. We give more to animal welfare than to the protection of our fellow humans. Children in other lands are less precious to us than the lambs in the fields. We live detached from the brutality of humanity as it serves to protect us from the guilt and allows us to stay sane.
