CloudsA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenA Grey dayClouds Why does the sky seem so oppressive at times? Why does it seem on days like today to press down and smother the earth? To stifle my screams and steal the breath from my soul, leaving my spirit deflated? Perhaps I have offended a higher power or simply this is the preordained path I have to follow. Today the sky is lead, it is deep with impenetrable doom. All shades of grey from white to black. It pretends to be a blanket but gives no warmth as it hides the sun from my eyes and mocks my heart.
