Seek Not the Delusion of Love

Seek Not the Delusion of Love

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Love does not exist.

"

Seek Not the Delusion of Love

Do not confine yourself

to the extremities

of your religion or

your beliefs.

But plunge beneath

the warm waves

of self

and seek the truth

in your heart.

Believe in love

but do not see it a science,

finite, or ordained by God;

but neither view it as

a pagan virtue

only true to oneself

and the urges of man

and his wanton desires.

Expand your soul

to consider a wealth

of feelings, a smorgasbord

of opportunities.

And there, in that hallowed state,

seek to give

and receive honour,

truth and contentment.

Only self reflection can open long closed doors and acceptance of the forgiveness of self and the self's perception, wonderful piece xo

Thank you so much Arzel
We must understand what we seek to truly find it otherwise we are grasping at air and wondering why we can't breathe:

Expand your soul
to consider a wealth
of feelings, a smorgasbord
of opportunities.

I enjoyed your voice in this piece and the syntax that you chose...it added to the wisdom of the piece.

Many thanks
real truth and contentmen is in the heart...and sometimes organized relgion seems to forget that.
but we don't have to...we can love regardless of race, creed, denomination...

we just have to learn to trust our own hearts.

Harkens to the age old questions and the tendency of some to assign morals and love to religion and dogma. A well done philosophical piece.

Well yes the age old question. Many thanks 'M'
We need people to question their core beliefs.. not to go on blinded by a promise of an afterlife.. we must focus on this life

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
