A Life AloneA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenThe birds have flown the nest.A Life Alone And why would I choose such isolation? The ending of decades as father, husband, lover. Someone dedicated to the task, of nurturing, protecting, being the hunter-gatherer. But you all walked away; empty days without purpose are now what decorate my walls. And in the cathedral like silence I hear my heart’s screams echo in the hollow darkness where I lie.
