Picture on My WallA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenReminiscing lost love.Picture on My Wall You are framed now; encased in wood and glass and hung on the walls of my recall. You used to have three dimensions but now you are a single plane, flat as the painted thoughts on which you hang. I still see your curves and lips and eyes and skin, and reach out to touch these memories, but they are now encased within the vaulted gallery of my recollection, out of reach. In my head I hear you speak whispering yesterdays I love yous in delicate and fervent breaths, but it is now a mere echo that laps at the water’s edge instead of the crystal cascade, the rushing torrent we shared.
