I Hear You!

I Hear You!

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

What can we do?

"

I Hear You!

I hear your cries

from the wilderness,

where humanity has abandoned you

starving and alone and in pain.

I hear your sobs

from the war zones,

where politicians have left you

to deal with silent scars.

I hear your pleas

from the edges of society,

where our complacency has deserted you

to suffer while we feast.

But hearing you is just not enough

as your plight continues

and the icy fog of life,

swirls around your fate.

And still I am but a spectator

who feels unable to protect you,

to stand up for you

against such blatant injustice.

I've read so many poems about people dealing with their own pain, it's good to see a poet speaking about someone else's plight for once. Very moving.

I have posted many on both personal pain and joy lol. many thanks 'MT'
This is very deep in thought John and it makes me think. This feeling of helplessness on both sides flows heavy in your words today. If only I could reach out and protect you, instead of just hearing you and offering words of comfort. I really enjoyed this today.

Thank you Will. I guess as long as we all try to do a little good it is the best we can do.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
