Siren

Siren

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

A ghost of a woman.

"

Siren

You returned;

the spectre.

the dark cloaked

promise,

the shadow of love

that will never be,

for it hides the sun beneath a black cape.

Your frailty shackles you

to no man’s land,

where commitment cannot blossom.

The sweet honey

that you offer

is merely black pitch

that will sink me to oblivion.

A raging magma,

a thick hot tar of hope

that will fill my pores

until I cannot breathe.

Until I am drowned in the misery

of your inadequacy.

And yet you are beauty itself,

you are desire,

warm and patient loins

where I would rest forever

in your magnificence.

Conflicted and angry (angry is a little harsh) ambivalent in love.

Thank you dear soul.
And so we read on still searching for less-tired phrases then "you are beauty itself". This makes me sure that Bukowski died too soon having never used a phrase that was uttered before him, with too many writers not knowing the value of that. But it is as they say "the way it is".

Not entirely depressing. I mean, it has it's moments... some arguable imagery that stands out above the others. But that's what infatuation does I suppose (to some of us); blinds one until the realization that love was never there, that it was only a fatality of false hope, an illusion manifested by one's own un-discovery of self and a pathetic attempt to substitute another's.

Your cliches mask what would be a brilliant insight into one's immature comprehension of love.

You understimate my insight and my intellegence. But thank you.
"a thick hot tar of hope" - great line!

Siren is the high and low pitch of the strobed way things are manifest, conjured, or otherwise brought into the phenomenology of exhibition, and centres around a carnal crater.

An interesting write, John.

Thank you Charlie
i like the twists and turns here....you are all about yourself, you can't really love...you are danger personified, and yet your beauty is worth it all, and worth the fall.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
