Reflections Upon Wasted Time

Reflections Upon Wasted Time

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

When life no longer makes sense.

"

Reflections Upon Wasted Time

The dappled shadows

of yesterday’s dreams

play patterns of thought

across my memory,

as the sun begins

it’s descent towards

the ocean bed.

Through the darkened

window of my soul

I watch as minutes

and hours and days

and years replay

in slow motion.

Begging searching questions

of the veracity of my time

spent in the pursuit

of the justice of existence.

And I weep tears of brine

for life’s blood spilt

and drained

in the brutal slaughter

of love and trust given,

and promises,

all broken.

Your opening line couldn't have been more inviting, John. You have strong insight for these introspective pieces. It shows another side of you as a writer.

Can we expect to see any photos from your vacation with any poetry? ; )

I loved your words man and I can definitely relate to them. So much wasted time in this life and we don't see it so much until we sit and reflect on it. Awesome write!

Thank you Aaron
Once broken, a heart becomes fragile and easily broken again and again. And then the question arises...who is to blame? Makes me wonder sometimes if it isn't me. Not saying it's you, just thinking out loud. Very cool John, even if it is sad.

Thank you Will for your considered views.
Broken hearts can leave us wondering what the hell happened and how do get those last 7 years back...
Or at least that's my interpretation. Reflecting on relationships that ended prematurely?

Thank you.....
i wonder if there is justice in existence...i do believe it is more broken promises...and yet, we try to live the best existence possible despite that...despite the brutal slaughter of love.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
