Empty Gestures

Empty Gestures

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Insincerity hurts!

"

Empty Gestures

I will not embrace the cliché

as you unfold

a soggy tissue

soaked in my blood.

There is a cry in the air

as evil deeds are done

to my soul.

The soul of an honest

and passionate man,

who offers love and respect.

So why, oh why

desecrate me so?

Why treat me with such indifference,

with such a callous and shallow kiss?

Why start a conversation

only to punctuate it

with brutal pregnant pauses

that simply tear down

any alliance we could

ever create?

Such a waste of love!
