Love's Safe Harbour

Love's Safe Harbour

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

A port in a storm.

"

Love's Safe Harbour

Shelter me

from the harsh winds of fate,

so that my flesh will no longer

be burnt and wracked

by its constant demands.

Let me lie in the lee

of your soul,

in the light

of your beauty,

where I may simply

serve you.

And thence you will know

the  servitude of a man

that most women

can simply dream of.

Such a gorgeous offering of devotion. Words like this are by far richer than any jewel in comparison! ...I love it, John!

There is no love without devotion me thinks Kelly. You are a star, many thanks!
it feels good to give ourselves completely to someone...

i like this...did you mean "lea"....i read it that way---

but yes, nothing better than serving a beautiful and talented woman...i could be a slave in that respect.

We long for that safe harbour in which to anchor our hearts and protect them from unfavourable winds. As a salt-water boy, myself, this speaks deeply to me. A great write, John.
