Pilgrim's Progress

Pilgrim's Progress

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

The future!

"

Pilgrim's Progress

An empty shelf

of books

that once were read.

The shredder

on overtime

to munch each page

until the writer

is obliterated.

Recycling time

we thought

would never end.

The Swallows and the Amazons,

Robinson Crusoe,

The Day of the Triffids,

The War of the Worlds,

Journey to The Centre of the Earth,

2001, A Space Odyssey.

Arise the neon lights

of technology,

Kindle mine eyes

with the future,

where literature

like all things

becomes a disposable

commodity.

I read a book called Pilgrim's progress by L.J.Caunter. The cover drags you in when catches your eye! I love books and many a book is found wandering in a book-store especially secondhand. A sad future indeed

Wonderful pennning, John...much thought to ponder!
