The Journey

The Journey

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Life's path.....

"

The Journey

I cannot retrace my steps

for I have no map

and it is growing dark

here in the woods.

I will therefore soldier on

and prey that the track

is kinder than that already

passed.

If not the thorns will tear

at my already bloodied shins

and I will simply

stumble on,

hoping night

gives way to day again.

A soldier, you are John and your journey may take you on a journey to the centre of the Earth or 20,000 leagues under the sea and you know what awaits you plenty of fish in the sea and if it's John West Its only the best! Happy fishing in the future starting tomorrow John!

Cheers Andrew; you too.
Soldiering on and stumbling on. Onwards the only option, all else--the narrative voice's prayers, circumstance and blood--irrelevant. Very clever. Great stuff, John!

Thank you for such kind words Tom.
Such are some of life's paths, John. A well-penned description of the uncertainties of life coupled with the hint of hope that tomorrow appears through the darkness.

Thank you FT. Dark and light are the balance of life are they not?

they are, indeed, my friend.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
