Stupor

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Drowning sorrows.

"

Stupor

My heart cannot taste

the alcohol I have drunk

as it numbs my brain.

I fear many of us may Jim. Thanks
A brilliant write John and how it has a double sword edge to numb you in sorrow as in this case or make you eliminate self doubt and "ask her out" as you turn into a horny adventurous devil!:)

Enjoyed this, alcohol heaves emotions and deadens logical thought and physical coordination, you get this just right here !

Many thanks Leslie.
I believe that is the reason why we drink, to numb our senses...to feel euphoric. How sad though, we vaguely remember.

Yes to numb our feelings Kelly. Thank you,
VERY nice, well, nice probably isn't the best word--but good! I really appreciate it when poets use bodily functions/organs to express feeling, there's nothing more palpable, and this poem is a short-sweet-gut-punch. Great work!

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
