The PlayerA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenDark and LightThe Player The late April sun beats down and I gratefully receive it. Warmer than the average says the weatherman. The sky is crystal blue and as I gaze into its calm ocean there is a crescent moon peeking out from the velvet curtain, like an actor waiting in the wings to make a cloaked entrance. Jealous of the lead, he holds back waiting for his cue and watches the star, centre stage, holding his worshipful audience in his blissful radiance. But come the second act he knows he will have his moment, and he will tread the boards this night.
