Festingered

Festingered

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Time to change.

"

Festingered

My dissonant days are done

as I align my cognitions.

Not for me the irrelevance

of shoe tying

as I strive for consistency

between expectation and reality.

Belief changes ones belief,

unless of course one is in denial.

So I must refuse misperception,

rejection and refutation

and when prophecy fails

I will simply listen to a symphony

on my journey to consonance.

You have the wrong man! lol
Thank you so much Julie.
I love these analytical views you conjure up, John. We all need some diversity between expectation and reality. Good writing!

Thank you Kelly it was Festinger who thought them up, I simply put them into verse lol!
A very clever and smart to the point where you have to hang around to absorb all the multi layers.because its so busy!

He was the man who studied and coined the term cognitive dissonance!

Pardon my ignorance but his path and mine never crossed til now
This is such a vivid scenery for the viewer and speaks on cataclysmic levels. Well done!

It is a poem based upon the theory of dissonance put forward by Festinger
A very smart poem. I love how you've still managed to maintain a lovely meter in spite of the narrative voice's highly analytic outlook.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
