Bits and Pieces

Karina's Face

Your smile is a dream smile,

your eyes sparkling emerald,

your kiss cherry sweet.

30/04/15

Looking Back

I wish that we

could retrace our steps.

Then I would examine

every move,

every word uttered,

and purify them all

so that we

could be whole again.

30/04/15

Then and Now

Swift is the arrow of love,

sharp the guillotine of parting.

30/04/15

Email End

Words,

blunt as a cudgel,

spelt out my fate

from the empty,

sterile echo,

of the internet.

The place where you hide

your pretty eyes

from the truth.

30/04/15

Tablets of Stone

The commandments

handed down to Moses:

'Do not covet thy neighbour's wife!'

but she may covet you!

30/04/15

Deceit

You took me to your breast

and I was so sure of you.

Just shows

how wrong you can be.

Hi John. You have created stand alone stanzas which carry a potent message. Then to add to the magic, you have blended and melded with all e finesse of a true craftsman and given the reader a wonderful journey through the breakup of a relationship. Love how you did this. Great work!!!! alf

Thank you Alf; there is no poetry without pain, there is no verse without love's touch.

I was going to pick a couple but I have to say I like them all. If I had to pick one--Then and now. Precise and nicely thought out poems. Good job. :)

"Swift is the arrow of love,
sharp is the guillotine of parting."

Those two lines really say it all, John. Hope it begins to get easier for you soon. x

I LOVE 'Then and Now'. 'Tablets of Stone' is very witty. All of these are really solid pieces in fact, John. Great work!

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
