The Harmony of Life

The Harmony of Life

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Inspired by the novel 'Amsterdam' by Ian McEwan

"

The Harmony of Life

Slow, chromatic and rhythmically

tricksy are your musical passages

as you improvise the risky lines

for the strings of life.

Your variations an enigma

scribbled upon parchment scraps

torn from the hides of lovers

who have wronged you.

Pieces of hearts and souls

with which you compose

your moonlit sonata.

Muted octaves born from

the intoxication of a woman's

power over man

and the deceit she uses

as her signature tune.

Thank you MS. The phrase 'Slow, chromatic and rhythmically tricksy' is Ian McEwan. The rest I made u.. read more
this reminds me of sylvia plath....she played the subservient role in real life, but in her writing she would "eat men like air."

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
