Adrift in a sea of reflection

Au lieu de l'amour

Bereft and in lieu of love

I search my soul

hoping to find some cause

for this existence.

This empty page

upon which I carve

words is but solace

for a soul abandoned.

A place to leave my mark

as I seek the comfort

and custody of

of my own honesty

and fortitude

and resilience.

Perhaps if I stop

fighting the world

joy will befall me

and the beauty

of true romance

will once again

be mine.

We all need to be recognized...to be needed...to have a purpose. For many of us who post poetry here on WC, the words hide our true emotions. For others, they are the only way to get the emotions out. Very emotive write, John. Good one. Lydi**

Indeed we do need to be needed. I once discharged this need as a parent and an employee but now my children are all adults and I am taking an extended break from work lol. Many thanks Lydi.
