Berkeley Square

Berkeley Square

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

A moment in time.

"

Berkeley Square

A Nightingale sang

and I fell to the hypnotic

sweetness of her tones.

I looked upon her dark

and tantalisingly breathless beauty

and wished it were true.

I longed for that moment

to be real.

I hoped that life could be

the fairytale I had been promised.

So many times promised

only to be denied.

...when you write like this, no one can touch you! Wow! ...and Harry Connick Jr., too!

You are so very kind Kelly. Many thank yous!
reminds me of the Beats---and those days of longing for the surreal to become the real...

intensity in the lines...i remember these moments, and wish them back...wondering if i would take more advantage of them than i did.

Thank you Jacob
oh, how often are we set-up by the promise of those tales, only to be denied? Too many, I am afraid. Yet, we continue to fall for the pretty voice. This is a moment captured perfectly and succinctly in freat form, John.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
