669

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

On the 1st July 2015 Nicholas Winton died at aged 106 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_Winton

"

669

They call them 'Nicky's Children'.

Stockbroker by day,

lifesaver in his spare time.

A cancelled skiing holiday and

six times commissioned trains left Prague

under his stewardship,

Britain bound

to snatch the innocent,

the seedlings,

out of the reach

of the hands of death.

Tracks to freedom,

survival,

saved from the camps

where millions perished

at the hands

of Germanic insanity.

In an act of charity,

one man delivered youngsters

into the arms of strangers

and they lived.

My privilege Richard. He did the deed.
Beautiful tribute to a true hero!! Love the song choice so appropriate since he saved so many using the trains as their escape!!
Brilliant write,.. todays media always showing the negative when it is souls like these that should be celebrated and shared!!

Indeed WM. Many thanks.
How one man can wreak such havoc, yet another be a saviour; the contradiction defeats me.

You're right about recalling and remembering the good. T

He was a great and compassionate man who did what many others could and should have done. His story is a true story of a hero. RIP Nicholas Winton, good and faithful servant. He will have a special place in heaven.
