Not Waving But Drowning Again

Not Waving But Drowning Again

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Not Waving But Drowning Again

I slipped below the surface of my grief

and in that sea of misery,

only darkness reigned.

A cold, bleak, inky swell

that stretched beyond the horizons

of my sanity.

And in such a time of madness

was born despair;

a deep well into whose throat I plunged,

and although I could swim like a fish,

even I sank beneath those crow black waves.

We all go through this at times, and it sucks. Just when you think it's passed, it aint. Makes you stronger though.

Very dark, describing depression, something to which many of us can relate.

such irony in the title ...grief and despair are formidable at times ...i was tossed along with your protagonist .. and the crow is an omen that i really think is powerful for poets and readers ... haven't seen it used recently around here ..hope all is well ...peace and joy

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
