My Fight

My Fight

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

My Fight

I will break you Satan.

Your grip upon my mortal soul

will be denied.

I will expel your leaching,

puss filled breath from my lungs

and cast you back to Hades

where you will rot.

And I will rise,

rise again into the light of life.

A life denied to me for all these decades

by your interfering, satanic hand.

And I will be guided by the bearer of the light

who will illuminate my passage

and pluck this blindness from mine eyes.

Very nice work of repelling the demon within to find salvation. As always the imagery is great.

Thank you Willard
It seems like you are driven by rage and anger.

"A life denied to me for all these decades
by your interfering, satanic hand."

This line leads me to believe that you are not taking responsibility for yourself and looking for someone or something to blame your troubled thought or "blindness" on. Don't blame a "devil" or "satan", take some responsibility; blame yourself, identify your deficiencies, and then refine yourself. You don't need to cast anyone "back to hades" to make yourself a better person. You seem to be confused about what it means to be spiritual, you seem preoccupied with punishment before self refinement. "...distrust all in whom the impulse to punish is powerful!" F.N.
