Reflecting

Reflecting

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Reflecting

Brown brackish water,

standing soldier still

in deep ditches

by fallow barley fields.

Tears of lemon drops

flowing down rose blushed

cheeks  of virgin snow.

Your depth shrouded

in a mist of old cheese cloth,

there against a grey and leaden sky

you stand upon that distant hillock,

all polished slate dancing

with flickers of fire.

And here am I,

sliding into a narrow hole

where swallowed glass

leaves a dark shadow

on the X-ray of my soul.

the reflection of someone who is gone---i really like the soldier reference...these memories stand army still...and life becomes like a battlefield's remains...it's life and death ....

those shadows on the soul---the darkness we experience when we lose whom we love.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
