Seasons End

Seasons End

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Seasons End

I watch the winter fields,

thinned branches

barely shield

their blushes.

The sad brown earth

often looking barren

with neglect

until the furrows

carved by man

and picked over

by wheeling

white gulls

suggest

that spring

will follow

this bleak winter

and the sun will return

to warm our skin

as the buds appear,

and we know

that summer

is on its way.

Gee
You paint a bleak picture John, but paint it very well. Can't wait for spring, am not one for the cold in any way, shape or form. I miss the big yellow fellow.

Thank you Gee. I so miss the sun and am NOT a winter lover.
Yes, the calendar pages continue to turn and winter will turn to spring and then summer....so it shall ever be. A lovely write about the circle of life, John. I think KL is right, though....it should be suggest, not the plural. Lydi**

Very descriptive and beautiful. One minor thing -- I think suggests should be either suggest or suggesting since it describes the furrows, no?

Thanks 'M'. I guess it is beautiful but I await the spring with relish. Thanks for the eagle eye.
A lovely write depicting the english weather around a coastal village. I hear the cries of gulls clearly. This write reminded me of my visit to the channel islands and Jersey.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
