Romantically Involved

That's what they call it!

You were not simply involved.

You took that step

over the threshold of decency.

You showed no respect for convention,

our vows, our children, our hearts,

our beliefs or our dreams.

There you were in secret

bed hopping hotel action.

Illicit liaisons, defiling the bond

between husband and wife.

You saw it merely as something

you wanted to enjoy,

like the latest curved screen TV,

so you went into the 'shop'

and simply took it,

right under the nose of the manager.

And you didn't pay for it,

I did.

Our children did.

Ouch, a very heartwrenching piece. Always a hard time when someone has an affair after they have promised to remain faithful

Indeed and there is rarely a soft landing. Many thanks
Ah, infidelity. The cruelest of betrayals is being lied to by the person you thought you knew. Infidelity is something no one truly understands even when they are in it. All parties find their reasons to deny, justify, and accuse, and the real losers are the innocents,.

Thank you 'M'. All parties lose something I guess.
A very moving poem on the betrayal of faith and the heartbreaking consequences involved when someone chooses to be so selfish and shortsighted. I love the clarity with which you speak here John.

I could feel every bit of the hurt and anger in your words. Thank you for sharing John.
I suppose there's always been betrayal in relationships.
But the ultimate betrayal must be when kids are involved. I just don't see a way back after that.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
