New Growth

New Growth

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

The life cycle.

"

New Growth

My heart lies

like broken branches,

in a random pile,

awaiting the cleansing pyre.

As the wood rots

upon this stony earth

its decay

begins the process

of renewal.

Chewing termites

break down

once battle hard fibres,

making them more

susceptible to degeneration.

And the soil swallows

all it is offered

in nitrogen snacks

of broken carbon.

And there in the ground

seedlings are fed,

nurtured,

until they have the strength

to push

upwards,

seeking solar warmth,

as regeneration begins.

The poem has a rare beauty, backed with the basics of the science of recycling of the elements. A death is always regrettable, yet the only consolation would be if my traces would nurture life in another form.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
