Loss of Faith

Loss of Faith

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Who can trust religious teachings?

"

Loss of Faith

Sermons,

once meaningful,

fall on deaf ears

as souls,

once tinged with Catholic guilt,

rebel.

A priest lies dead,

throat cut

for the lies told,

for the hurt

the children endured.

A bible lies smoking

in hot ash,

its words mere wisps

blown in winds

of deceit.

The Pope is dressed

in the rags of a martyr,

ready to be stoned to death

as accounts are due,

and gods are seen to

have no place here.

This one is so good that I could imagine even history passing by when it comes to religious dogmas.I can also remember the angels and demons novel which I read when I was in high school. Your poetic style could take readers into different places in different times.

Thank you Capolavoro. I have read all of Dan Brown's novels and they all make you think. Good action.. read more

Oh you bet yes!
i was raised Catholic..this reminds me a bit of the movie, "dogma"--

yes, the sins of the catholics, the hypocrisy some share...i remember those sermons...those people going to communion after confession on saturday...and how they were such nasty people...the rest of the week...never understood.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
