Lies

Lies

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Religion is distorted truth

"

Lies

Ride the magic carpet

to the stone that rolled.

See the holes

in his hands and feet

made by nails,

the scar in his flank

made by a Roman spear.

Oh how well the story ends

as man must bow

his head to the memory

of a living god,

indeed The Son of god.

But man is so, so

unworthy,

and had to be besmirched

with sin.

An original plague

that taints his soul

until he dies.

The lies man has created

in the name of truth

have not saved

the earth.

No matter their origin,

their culture or their creed.

Religion is for those that need support in the Belief they are doing right but many are a slave for life in these Beliefs without reward. You live then you die, that's it whether you believe or not.

Gee
I personally think religion is for those that need a reason to justify their existence. Me, I just love life, my life and am gonna drag every bit of fun and love out of it that I can. Where will I go when I die, to be fair I don't give a monkeys cos I'll be dead!!!

I agree with you Gee. Go for it!
Many thanks.
Aloha John, a great read. I think we each spin our own truth and that's what it is for us and we continue to believe what we believe. I now believe in heaven, but not all the 'truth' that's attached to it...until my mother died I didn't. The last two lines are powerful. Izzy

Yes I think we largely agree on this subject. Thank you so much.
So much truth here. The last two lines are the perfect ending to this well written and heartfelt poem. Great writing my friend. :) Julie

Thank you so much Julie. As a lapsed Catholic I relate to the deceptions of religions.
emily dickinson would have loved this...we believe what we believe and sometimes faith is just us lying to ourselves that we will have a good ending, be saved, end up in that place for grace.

Indeed Jacob, indeed. Many thanks for reading.
Very true. Man has changed the meaning of truth. A really nice poem, wonderful use of words indeed!

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
