Summer's LamentA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenLonging for summer and it is already August!Summer's
Lament When the clouds have passed There will be long, languid days to be had. At least that is what I tell myself to stave of the creeping fugue of seasonal depression. But it is so hard, so incredibly hard when a grey blanket swamps the sky and drizzle penetrates my summer coat. When the hazel bushes sprout and I am helpless to halt their advance. I survived the harshest, coldest months longing for the sun. It feels as if I am cheated when spring and autumn become conjoined. They say the seasons are changing, global warming and all that, but I hardly dare believe that it is so, when the long hot school holidays of childhood days gone by have never been repeated.
